The Lakewood Public School District is seeking an experienced, dynamic, student-focused educator to lead its public schools. Lakewood Public Schools serve a uniquely diverse community of 6,240 public school students and 29,000 non-public school students. A total budget of $167,899 million (including grants) supports programs for public school students and services for non-public school students. The Lakewood School District is comprised of one high school (9-12), one middle school (6-8), three elementary schools (1-5), two elementary schools (Prek-1) and an early childhood center (Pre-K).

Lakewood is one of the fastest growing communities in the United States. Its location 10 miles west of the Jersey Shore and 65 miles south of New York City have made it an attractive residential destination for senior citizens, members of the Jewish community, and other culturally diverse groups. Lakewood is proud of its local amenities including a downtown area that supports over 350 ethnically and culturally diverse businesses and the Ocean County Center for the Arts in the Strand Theater. Lakewood is also home for four (2) colleges/universities, the Lakewood Blue Claws minor league baseball team, and over 1,200 acres of parks and recreation area.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

Clearly articulate a student centered vision for the district.

Create a climate of mutual respect by building relationships with multi-cultural, multi-ethnic groups that enhance collaboration in meeting educational needs of all students.

Recruit and maintain a highly qualified/experienced staff.

Build internal capacity for professional growth and development that supports programs and services for all students.
